We’re thrilled to let you know that our high-tech disinfection product, UVEN, has been nominated for a prestigious Build Back Better Awards in the category Lighting Product. The Build Back Better Awards are an exciting initiative aimed at championing innovation, creativity, sustainability, environmental leadership, and social purpose in buildings, and to make the world a better place. The Build Back Better initiative is committed to recognizing, rewarding, and sharing these ideas and innovations so that we all can benefit.
UVEN is fully autonomous lighting product, which improves the public health and wellbeing by deactivate more than 90% of SARS-CoV-2 (covid), more than 99% of E. coli and Salmonella on surfaces and in the air, in only 2 minutes. UVEN works like a ceiling luminaire, but it switches from normal lighting to UVC light when a room is unoccupied. It uses advanced sensor technology to control presence and disinfection of the room. UVEN is intended for frequently visited environments with a high risk of the spread of infection, like communal restrooms or locker rooms at workplaces and in schools. UVEN has been verified through testing at the Swedish Defense Research Agency (Totalförsvarets Forskningsinstitut, FOI).
The innovator behind UVEN is Tord Wingren, founder of BrainLit and one of the innovators behind Bluetooth. During the covid pandemic, we at BrainLit thought about how our knowledge in lighting could contribute to a safer environment. Tord’s all about tackling the big problems. “As a problem-solving addict, I’m all in. UVEN was a tag-team effort, developed with the help of Jakob Singvall and the R&D crew. UVEN is not like our other products, but much like the Biocentric lighting, it’s all about improving public health”, says Tord.
